PRN2023: Anwar calls for early voter turnout across six states

PERMATANG PAUH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged voters in the six states to come out early to vote.

Speaking to newsmen after casting his vote at SK Seri Penanti here, Anwar said that based on their observation, the situation in the six states is calm.

"Alhamdullilah, everything is good. I urged all voters to fulfil their responsibility to vote.

"Come out to vote peacefully. Jangan (Don't) postpone your responsibility to vote early," he said.

Anwar was clad in a blue top with a black songkok, similar to the attire he wore when casting his vote in the 15th general election.

Earlier, Anwar arrived at SK Seri Penanti here about 9.33am to cast his vote.

He was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.

He greeted and shook hands with the people upon his arrival.

Some also took the opportunity to take a selfie with him.

He and his wife cast their votes for the Permatang Pasir state seat about 9.40am.

The Permatang Pasir seat sees a straight fight between Pakatan Harapan's Faiz Fadzil and Perikatan Nasional's Amir Hamzah Abdul Hashim.

Permatang Pasir is one of three state seats in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary constituency.

The others are Seberang Jaya and Penanti.

All three seats were won by Pakatan Harapan in the last general election.

Voters in Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu go to the polls today.

Meanwhile, Anwar said he would leave for Cherok Tok Kun after this before returning to Kuala Lumpur.

"I will monitor the situation as a whole and not focusing on specific areas," he added.
