IGP: Roadblocks nationwide from midnight onwards

KUALA LUMPUR: Police will be conducting roadblocks at strategic locations nationwide starting from midnight.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said this was part of the police's efforts to prevent crime through omnipresence to ensure public safety.

He stressed that the operation was unrelated to the ongoing state elections.

"This is part of our monthly routine to prevent crimes and is not related to the state elections.

"Our men will be stationed at various locations to ensure there are no untoward incidents," he said at a press conference today.

At the same time, Razarudin also urged supporters of political parties not to hold any victory convoys with their vehicles to celebrate their victory.

He added police will increase their presence at state palaces and residences of Yang di-Pertua to ensure no disruptions occur at these locations.
