Loke: Govt allocation is not individual, political party's money

KUALA LUMPUR: Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook is the latest to slam the act of placing a political party's logo on mock cheques issued from the funds given by the government.

He said that any government allocations which were distributed to the respective recipients must only use Malaysia's coat of arms.

Showing an example of a mock cheque he presented during the event at SMK Dato Sheikh Ahmad in Seremban today, he said that only such logo should be displayed if the fund came from the government.

"It was a timely reminder from the Prime Minister that government funds do not belong to individuals or political parties.

"So there should only be one logo, the 'Jata Negara' (coat of arms).

"Like this (mock cheque), it was an allocation from the Seremban constituency service centre, it is not YB Anthony Loke service centre.

"It cannot be put with the name as this is not permanent, in future it will be someone else's.

"Prime Minister reminded all, all members of parliaments, all parties and all ministers to obey," he said today.

Earlier this week, Umno Youth chief Dr Muhammad Akmal Saleh demanded an explanation over the presence of DAP's logo on mock cheques for donations made out to several schools in Ipoh, Perak.

Photos of the donation presentation posted on social media showed mock cheques bearing the DAP logo alongside logos of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Malaysia Madani as well as Malaysia's coat of arms.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said distributions of government aid to the people should not be made under the name or logo of political parties.

He said government aid must be distributed in the name of the government.
