MCA condemns violations of international law, human rights by Israel

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA condemns the ongoing violations of international law and human rights by Israel and calls for its government to respect international law, cease all settlement activities and engage in meaningful dialogue for a two-state solution.

The party's International Communication and Diplomacy Bureau deputy chairman Neow Choo Seong said there should be international intervention to end Israel's illegal occupation and its blockade on Palestinian territory.

"The oppressive policies imposed by the Zionist regime on the Palestinian people is deplorable and has led to immense humanitarian crises.

"The blockade, the restriction of movement and the ongoing settlement activities have exacerbated the plight of ordinary Palestinians, depriving them of basic necessities and the fundamental right to live with dignity.

"The MCA calls on the international community, in particular the United Nations and relevant international bodies, to take immediate and effective action to end the illegal Israeli occupation, lift the blockade and ensure the protection of the rights and dignity of the Palestinian people," he said in a statement.

He added that MCA is particularly disturbed by the desecration of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, one of the holiest sites in Islam, and considers any violation of its sanctity an affront to the religious freedoms of millions of Muslims worldwide. He said such an action undermined the delicate fabric of coexistence and tolerance among peoples.

"The rising death toll, including of children, weighs heavily on our hearts. Any circumstances that prolong the suffering of civilians are unacceptable.

"Protecting the lives of the innocent must be our topmost concern, and it is imperative that all parties involved exercise restraint and take every possible measure to avoid further loss of life and widespread destruction," he said.
