KUALA LUMPUR: Loan funds under Bank Negara Malaysia amounting to RM900 million will be provided to encourage SME companies to increase business productivity through automation and digitisation.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said this would intensify efforts to encourage the business activities of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (PMKS).
This includes increasing the level of competitiveness through the transition of business models, automation, and automation and digitisation.
"RM100 million is provided to provide digitisation grants of up to RM5,000 for the benefit of more than 20,000 SME entrepreneurs and micro entrepreneurs. This grant can be used to upgrade sales, inventory and digital accounting systems.
"RM40 million is provided to implement the Shop Malaysia Online Programme to encourage small traders, especially in the food sector, to do business from home," he said while tabling the 2024 Budget today.
He added the role of the digital economy centres (PEDi) in each state legislative assembly would continue to be strengthened to support small entrepreneurs selling products online with an allocation of RM25 million.
