KUALA LUMPUR: The government is urged to be unyielding, outspoken, and consistent in its advocacy for the rights of the oppressed Palestinian people due to Israeli occupation.
Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang (PN-Marang) emphasised that Malaysia should be a strong advocate for bringing Israel, the United States, and their allies to the International Criminal Court (ICJ).
The Pas president said this would allow the Zionist regime and its allies to be tried for their protracted oppression of Palestine.
"I urge the Malaysian government to step forward, be resolute, and take action. Be courageous even though our country is small, be courageous because it's the right thing to do.
"Malaysia needs to press for those involved in the violence of Israel and its allies to be brought to the International Court of Justice (ICJ). This is very important and must be done earnestly," he said when debating the Public Finance and Fiscal Responsibility Bill (RUU) 2024 at the policy stage in the Dewan Rakyat today.
Meanwhile, Abdul Hadi also questioned the effectiveness of the international law, likening it to a spider's web that only trapped small insects.
"International law doesn't amount to much even though the ICJ exists; it's like a spider's web. It's shattered by big creatures, but only small insects get caught," he said.
