Fahmi hits back at Pas' Takiyuddin, tells him to 'look in the mirror'

KUALA LUMPUR: Unity government spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil has chided Pas for labelling Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's statement as "alarmist" and said that the Islamist party should reflect upon themselves before making such a statement.

Fahmi, who is also Communications and Digital Minister, said Pas is also an alarmist party for spewing remarks against Pakatan Harapan going up to the 15th General Election (GE15).

"I think he should put a mirror up close to his face, have a good long look at himself and his party," he told reporters after attending the launching of Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) 5G Experience Centre at Exchange 106 Tower here today.

Earlier today, Pas said Anwar's statement that he had received threats from Western parliamentarians over the country's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict was merely a baseless claim.

Takiyuddin labelled the prime minister's statement as an alarmist remark, which he said was strange and amusing.

During the "Malaysia Stands with Palestine" rally in Bukit Jalil two days ago, Anwar has reaffirmed Malaysia's stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, despite criticism from pro-Israel countries including the United States.

Yesterday, national news agency Bernama reported that Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said police were beefing up Anwar's security following the latter's speech during the rally.
