KUALA LUMPUR: Istana Budaya will draw the curtain on the Traditional Orchestra of Malaysia (OTM) Outreach Programme: Sounds Of Malaysia (SOM) 2023 with a concert featuring local popular artistes at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Shah Alam on November 10.
Istana Budaya said in a statement that the SOM concert is a joint effort between OTM and the Music Conservatory, College of Creative Arts Studies, UiTM Shah Alam to expose the younger generation, especially campus residents in public universities, to traditional music.
It said that the concert will involve singers such as Dayang Nurfaizah, Haziq Rosebi and Dhiya Suhaili.
"Campus residents and members of the public are invited to come and liven up SOM on November 10 (Friday) which begins at 8.45pm at the Seri Budiman Concert Hall, UiTM, Shah Alam.

Istana Budaya said a mentor-mentee programme comprising workshops on gamelan and caklempong will be held on Thursday (November 9), in addition to a masterclass session on instrumentation and performance artistry on November 10.
The outreach programme is one of the initiatives organised by Istana Budaya through the Gerak campaign that aims to showcase the uniqueness of OTM through a combination of various types of music from ethnic groups in Malaysia to campus residents especially budding musicians in public and private universities. – Bernama
