KUALA TERENGGANU: Marang has become the latest district affected by floods in the state, with a flood relief centre (PPS) opened in the district.
The PPS at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Gasing was opened to accommodate 132 flood victims from 32 families.
As of 8am today, a total of 1,431 victims from 400 families are seeking shelter in 14 PPS in four districts, namely Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Setiu, and Marang.
The number was an increase from 1,048 victims from 295 families in 12 PPS in Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, and Setiu.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), the Kuala Nerus district recorded the highest number of victims, with 699 victims from 189 families placed in seven PPS, compared to only 507 victims the night before.
In Kuala Terengganu, a total of 574 flood victims involving 173 families were placed in four PPS, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan Chendering, Sekolah Kebangsaan Atas Tol, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pasir Panjang, and Sekolah Kebangsaan Gong Tok Nasek.
The number of affected victims in Setiu remained at 26 victims from six families and they were placed at Kampung Bintang Community Hall and Kampung Bari Besar Community Hall.
Currently, it is still raining in several places in Terengganu.
