SHAH ALAM: Police confirmed bomb threats sent via email to seven private schools this morning, were false alarms.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan in a statement this evening said the bomb threat made via email from 'takstorer@ beeble.com' to seven international school in Kajang, Kuala Langat, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Shah Alam were fake and deliberately done to frighten the schools management and parents.
"Officers from the Selangor bomb disposal squad rushed to the locations where the bombs were allegedly planted but found no explosives in the school vicinity as claimed by the sender of the email.
"We believe the email was sent to simply create chaos and cause the school and parents to panic," he said.
Hussein advised parents of students to remain calm and report any similar threats they receive via email to the police, immediately.
"Report such threats to the police, for us to verify and investigate the veracity of the email and threat. This way we can all avoid causing unnecessary fear in the community," he said.
He said the police are still investigating the bomb scare at the seven schools and the motive behind the fake email, together with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 507 of the Penal Code and Section 233 Multimedia and Communications Act.
"The public, the schools and parents do not have to be worried about their children's safety, as they have all been carefully combed and are safe to conduct classes," Hussein said, reassuring concerned parents.
Hussein also warned the public not to make any speculations over the case as it can cause unnecessary tension and chaos among the public.
"Anyone caught doing so, or spreading fake news about the case can be investigated under Section 505B of the Penal Code for spreading fake news."
