eMadani applicants happy with application process, despite early hiccups [NSTTV]

KUALA LUMPUR: Though the e-Madani programme had initial hiccups, approved applicants are delighted with the ease of claiming the one-off credit.

One e-Madani applicant, Afiq Syazwan said that the process went smoothly for him, taking only several hours for the money to be credited into his e-wallet account.

"It was rather easy for me to claim the RM100 e-Madani credit. I was spoilt for choice as there were many e-wallet platforms that are available for me to claim it.

"I had submitted my information for it to be processed this morning and by this evening, I had already received the RM100," he told the New Straits Times.

He added that although for some, the RM100 may seem small, it means a lot to him as the money could be spent in buying meals.

"The money will surely be used for my daily expenditures..I will use it to buy food, allowing me to save extra money towards the end of the month."

Another successful applicant, Firdaus Kamal said the RM100 was credited to his e-wallet around 12 hours from the time of his application.

"I was one of the quick ones, I had applied for the e-wallet using my Touch n' Go account around 30 minutes after the application was opened.

"Even though I am not cash strapped at the moment, I had submitted my application early as I tend to forget (in submitting my application for government initiatives).

"To my surprise, e-Madani was credited into my e-wallet around 12 hours later."

Firdaus, who works as a freelance photographer, also praised the initiative as it encourages the use of e-wallets by local businesses and retailers.

On Monday, the government kicked off the redemption for the e-Madani programme for Malaysians aged 21 and above, with income below RM100,000 per annum, who are not a recipient of the past eBeliaRahmah credit.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the e-credit initiative under the eMadani programme would benefit about 10 million individuals, with a total cost of RM1 billion.

Those eligible have until Feb 20 next year to redeem the e-credit through four-wallet providers, namely Maybank's MAE, Petronas' Setel, TNG Digital and ShopeePay.
