Nur Farah Kartini buried in Pekan to ease process, says brother

PEKAN: Murder victim Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah was laid to rest at Kampung Nyiur Manis near here instead of flown to Sarawak to ensure a smooth burial process at her sister-in-law's hometown.

Her brother Mohd Fariza Amir, 28, said the decision was made as he is married to someone from Kampung Nyiur Manis here.

"The family decided to perform the burial at Kampung Nyiur Manis as my wife is from this village. It was to ensure a smooth burial process for my sister....many people in the village also know her.

"I want to thank the police, Sungai Buloh hospital staff and others who provided their assistance to my family throughout the entire process. I am grateful that my sister has been buried," he told reporters choked with emotion.

Fariza Amir was met at the Kampung Nyiur Manis muslim burial ground here where Nur Farah Kartini, the youngest and only girl of seven siblings, was buried today.

On July 16, Fariza Amir told reporters that his sister is expected to be buried at her hometown in Kampung Lereng Bukit, Miri in Sarawak before the family decided to bury her in Pekan.

Nur Farah Kartini was reported missing after delivering a rental car to a customer on July 10 before she was found dead near Felda Gedangsa in Hulu Selangor on July 15.

Earlier today, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the body belonged to Nur Farah Kartini based on the DNA results

Meanwhile, Peramu Jaya assemblyman Datuk Mohamad Nizar Najib, who was among hundreds present to pay their last respects to Nur Farah Kartini, presented some aid to her family.

Nizar, who is also the state Investment, Industries, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman, expressed his sympathy saying the incident has stunned the country.

"News about the tragic incident has shocked the whole country and the people in Pahang are also saddened by the incident. I hope those responsible will face the law.

"I handed over some aid on behalf of the Pahang government and Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail to the family. I hope the family will remain strong during these challenging times," he said.
