Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, did not elaborate if the council or Perkeso had identified the hacker responsible for the cyberattack.
"We are in the process of strengthening our cybersecurity (strategy and policies).
"At the same time, there was also a decision for the National Security Council and MCMC to work closely with cybersecurity firms which are capable of helping and protecting the country against threats and disruptions in the future," he told reporters after conducting a surprise visit on the second-day of the Madani Government One-Year celebration at Bukit Jalil National Stadium here today.

Perkeso in a statement yesterday confirmed that its system, information base and website were hacked since Dec 2.
The attack compelled Perkeso to activate its crisis management plan on the same day with its information technology and communication technology (ICT) unit mobilising a system recovery.
It had said that the initial modus operandi of the cyberattack was identified as an effort to cripple the entire infrastructure used by Perkeso for daily operations.
Perkeso had also the success of its ICT unit in regaining control of the system eventually led to the hacker changing tactics by attempting to launch a 'character assassination' attack on Perkeso's image.
When commenting on the leaked information displayed on the dark web, Perkeso viewed the authenticity of the data stolen by the hacker as highly doubtful, incomplete and expired.
"These irresponsible hackers launched attacks on matters pertaining to the country's interests. These attacks conducted by these irresponsible hackers target the country's interest.
"So, all forensic results will be shared with authorities to avoid the recurrence similar episodes against other agencies," Perkeso had said yesterday.
