KUALA LUMPUR: Spectators were awestruck with the prowess shown by the Malaysian Armed Forces on the last day of the Madani government event in Bukit Jalil here, today.
The event saw the Malaysian Army, Royal Malaysia Air Force and the Royal Malaysian Navy showcasing self-defense maneuvers, drumming performances, and a silent drill demonstration.
Sara Amani Ibrahim, 32, said it is the first time she is able to see such performances up close.
"Usually I only get to see on the screen during National Day celebrations but it's great that the event is more free and easy and I get to experience the activities spread throughout the weekend."
Mohd Lokman Arshad, 28, said he was impressed by the unarmed combat also known as Tempur Tanpa Senjata (TTS) display by the Malaysian Army as he is a martial arts practitioner himself.
"I could see that there are some mixed techniques thrown in but it was an impressive display of our army members' strength and synchronicity."
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan who was also present said the precision shown was reflective of the discipline that the Malaysian Armed Forces have in carrying out their duties.
"The unarmed combat for instance are skills that I'm proud our troops have because there are conflict situations that cannot be engaged with weapons.
"I am glad that the public is also here to interact with those committed to serve our nation."
Despite the scorching weather, thousands attended the Madani government's First Anniversary programme held at Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
The three-day programme also sought to enhance the public's awareness of the government's direction and goals, as well as nation-building through periodic achievement reporting.
