Posters of Justice for Muhammad Zaharif Affendi spotted in Ipoh

IPOH: Posters of a 17-year-old student of SMK Jati who was killed after being hit by a car driven by a senior police officer were found along Jalan Panglima Bukit Gantang Wahab here.

The posters that read 'Justice for Muhammad Zaharif Affendi' were seen near the Sessions and Magistrates Court building here.

Also written on the poster is a picture of the victim during the incident and Surah Al-Fatihah.

It was reported yesterday that the family of Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie is demanding justice over the senseless death.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said that police have taken statements from seven people so far.

"So far, seven people have come forward to help the investigation, we do not rule out the possibility that there will be other witnesses called, depending on the investigation," he said.

In the 12.30pm incident, the victim was on his way home in Chemor from his school in Meru, here.

Prior to the incident, there was an altercation involving the car driver and the victim who was making noise on his motorcycle.

The 44-year-old driver chased the victim for almost a kilometre before hitting him from behind.

Due to the impact, the victim fell and was dragged almost five metres.

The victim, who was still fully dressed in school sports uniform, was confirmed dead at the scene.

A post-mortem conducted on the student at the HRPB here found that the cause of his death was chest and abdomen injuries due to a road traffic crash.

District police chief Superintendent Yahaya Hassan said that the policeman has been remanded for three days until Monday to assist in the investigation.
