Global uproar: Malaysia joins 38 nations in unprecedented action for Gaza

KUALA LUMPUR: In a united effort for peace, Malaysia joined 38 nations today for the Global Action Day for Gaza, said Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) Movement Malaysia chairman Professor Dr Nazari Ismail.

He said 33 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) had participated in the gathering of more than 1,000 people near the United States Embassy here.

Held in 74 cities worldwide, Nazari said the assembly was held to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, calling for an immediate ceasefire.

"Today, we gather to urge and demand Israel to stop its bloody attacks and genocidal actions against the Gaza Strip.

"Today also marks the 100th day of bloody attacks in Gaza, claiming about 24,000 lives," he said, adding that BDS aimed to get 3,000 people for today's gathering.

Earlier, 28 people spoke at the assembly, demanding and urging Israel to stop the genocide attacks.

Also present were Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek and Ledang member of Parliament Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.

Grateful for the successful assembly, Nazari expressed the movement's commitment to continue pressing for change and aligning with the global call for action.
