Kampung Pasir Tengah to receive improved roads and new bridge
LUNDU: Residents of Kampung Pasir Tengah are set to benefit from the construction of better rural roads and a new concrete bridge. This development comes as part of an initiative by the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), the Public Works Department (JKR), and the Opar Service Centre.
Member of the state legislative assembly (ADUN) for Opar, Billy Sujang, announced that these projects aim to improve local infrastructure and convenience. The road upgrade will extend over 800 metres with a budget of RM1.7 million under the GKCDA initiative. Additionally, the existing wooden bridge will be rebuilt with RM500,000 from the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).
"Upgrading the road and constructing the bridge will provide essential facilities to the residents and open up new opportunities for farmers and villagers to settle in the area," Billy stated during his visit to the project site in Kampung Pasir Tengah.
The project is particularly significant as most residents currently use a dirt road that is prone to damage and flooding during the monsoon season. The new developments promise more reliable and safer access for the community.
Billy also mentioned a visit to the Sedaing-Kendaie Road site, which received RM77 million from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW). He suggested that the excess funds from this allocation could be used to upgrade the 800-metre-long Bukit Batu-Kendaie Road. The initial allocation for the Sedaing-Kendaie Road was RM60 million, with the possibility of directing surplus funds to other projects in the Opar area.
