KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the public who wish to pay their last respects to the late Tan Sri Devaki Krishnan will have the opportunity to do so from 10am tomorrow at her residence in Brickfields.
Her grandson Rohan Ramakrishnan said her body will be taken to the Loke Yew Crematorium in Jalan Loke Yew from her home at 1pm on Jan 23.
"Funeral arrangements are currently being made for the late Tan Sri Devaki Krishnan who passed away last night.
"Those who wish to pay their respects can do so from 10am until 8pm tomorrow and 8am to 11am on Jan 23 at her residence at No 118 Jalan Berhala, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
"Prayers will commence at 11am on Jan 23," he told the New Straits Times today.
He said his late grandmother peacefully drew her last breath in the comforting presence of her children, Datin Dr Jayanthi Krishnan and Dr Ramani Krishnan, at her residence known as Brindhavan.
Several prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, are expected to pay their respects on Tuesday.
Devaki, the first woman elected to public office, died last night at the age of 100.
She was known as the Grand Dame of Malaysian Indian Politics and one of the last surviving members of the Merdeka generation.
Her death was confirmed by her grandson, Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk R. Ramanan, in a Facebook post.
