KUALA LUMPUR: A senior DAP leader expressed his dissatisfaction over the decision by the Federal Territories Pardons Board to reduce Datuk Seri Najib Razak's jail sentence and fine involving his SRC International case.
Tony Pua did not hold back when he shared a series of cryptic messages on his Facebook account today.
"I beg your pardon?", wrote the former Damansara member of Parliament.
In a separate posting on the same social media platform, Pua wrote: "Can someone send me to jail for one year and in exchange, pay me RM50 mil (million)?
"Pretty please?"
Although Pua did not explicitly reference any individual or groups in particular, the social media postings came about after the Federal Territories Pardons Board announced that it had reduced Najib's jail sentence by half and slashed his fine from RM210 million to RM50 million over the SRC International case.
Pua's social media postings even caught the attention of the administrator of Najib's official Facebook page.
"Lawak ke? (Is this a joke to you?) Glad that you find it funny, Tony," said a posting on Najib's Facebook page.
The posting was accompanied by Pua's earlier Facebook postings.
Earlier, the Federal Territories Pardons Board secretariat announced that it has reduced Najib's fine as well as halved his 12-year jail term to six.
This means that the former prime minister will be released from prison on August 23, 2028.
The board's secretariat said it had convened its 61st meeting on Jan 29. The meeting, it said, heard five pardon appeals, including Najib's application.
