PUTRAJAYA: The appointment of the Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general has been finalised by the Communications Ministry.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil said the announcement would be made once several administrative documents pertaining to the appointment are completed. "The name (of the candidate) has been approved and finalised. (And) we are only waiting for the process of several administrative documents to be completed. Only then we will announce the appointment," he said during a press conference held after the cabinet meeting, today.
In November last year, Fahmi confirmed that the former director-general Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff had resigned and no longer had anything to do with the government agency. Agus was appointed as the head of J-Kom in Feb last year but the department had been plagued with criticisms from both sides of the Parliamentary aisle for various reasons. Meanwhile, Fahmi stressed that the ministry was also focusing more towards the restructuring of the department. "This is also the priority for the ministry as we need to adjust and streamline certain workflows and functions within the department.
"At the ministerial level, we have also held strategic meetings to navigate the department's direction moving forward, including J-Kom's function, among others."
