PAC proceedings on MLFF have begun on Feb 26

KUALA LUMPUR: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has commenced proceedings regarding the implementation of the multi-lane free-flow (MLFF) project under the Works Ministry and the Malaysian Highway Authority on Feb 26.

PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said although the issues were not highlighted in the Auditor-General's Report, the proceedings would be conducted by Standing Order 77 (1) (d) of the Dewan Rakyat, Treasury Instructions (Amendment 2023) 301 and Section III Article 11(b) General Circular No.2 (1982).

"This marks the second time in the 15th Parliament that the PAC has conducted proceedings not reported in the Auditor General's Report.

"The previous one involved the Human Resource Development Corporation (HRD Corp) on the management of training funds and effectiveness, which commenced on Oct 23 last year," she told a press conference held at the parliament building today.

Mas Ermieyati said the proceedings involving HRD Corp had convened seven times.

For MLFF proceedings, Mas Ermieyati said the witnesses that were called up for the first proceeding on Feb 26 were Works Ministry deputy secretary-general (policy and development) Datuk Zahrul Hakim Abdullah, Malaysian Highway Authority chief executive officer Datuk Sazali Harun and MLFF special task force head Khairulanuar Muhari.

Mas Ermieyati said PAC proceedings would continue through three separate sessions on March 25, by calling another four witnesses.

The four are Malaysian Association of Highway Concession Companies president Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi; Projek Konsortium Jaringan Selangor Sdn Bhd director Datuk Seri Azmi Abdul Aziz; SEP Synergy Group (M) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Zaharin Hamzah and the Public-Private Partnership Unit (UKAS) director-general Datuk Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar.
