Nations must continue conversations on promoting cooperation and managing differences- Anwar

KUALA LUMPUR: In today's world of many crises, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said nations must continue conversations focused on promoting cooperation and managing differences to ensure the maintenance of peace, stability, security, and prosperity for the benefit of all.

"In this context, the Asean-Australia partnership is more crucial than ever in navigating present challenges.

"We are witnessing the marginalisation of the United Nations (UN) system as well as disregard for the UN Charter and international law. This cannot be allowed to continue.

"With our common vision for peace, stability and prosperity, it is important for Asean and Australia to work together, as well as with other like-minded countries, to reaffirm our commitment to multilateralism and uphold a world order that is in accordance with the UN Charter and underpinned by international law," said Anwar during the retreat session of the Asean-Australia Special Summit today (March 6).

Anwar is currently in Melbourne, leading the Malaysian delegation to two major programmes, namely the Malaysia-Australia Annual Leaders' Meeting (ALM) and the Asean-Australia Special Summit, before heading to Canberra on the final day of the visit tomorrow (March 7).
