Sabah broadens tourism appeal with multilingual brochures

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has released tourism brochures translated into four languages to broaden its appeal and better communicate with international tourists, Sabah Media reported.

The initiative was unveiled by Sabah's Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew in Berlin, Germany, recently with the aim of ensuring that the state's natural beauty and tourist attractions were easily accessible to German, Dutch, French and Spanish speakers.

This initiative was part of the Sabah Tourism Board's commitment to cater to the diverse needs of international visitors.

"Although English is used at an international level, it is an effort to meet the requirements of visitors from other countries. We hope it can increase the number of tourists to come see the natural beauty of Sabah.

"With this initiative, we have supplemented existing brochures, which are now available in English, Chinese, Japanese and Korean, tailored to the interests of target markets," she said.

Liew also highlighted the 'Feel Sabah' branding, now accessible in multiple languages.

Particularly significant was the focus on the German market, which ranked as the second-highest source of European tourists to Sabah, following the United Kingdom and Ireland.

This fact underscored the necessity for Sabah to prioritise the German market and provide tailored information to meet their needs.

Liew shared these insights while attending a tourism exhibition in Berlin, and was joined by Sabah Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
