KUALA LUMPUR: A man who posted an insensitive comment on his social media regarding the 'Allah' socks issue has issued an apology after being sought out by an individual who was dissatisfied with his actions.
The man posted his apology along with a video of their meeting on his Facebook.
"I wish to apologise to all Muslims and those who offended by my posting. I am saddened and I regret my actions.
"Thank you to Panglima Aduka and his friends for advising me on the word 'Allah', which I had misused. Malaysians, please forgive me," he said.
It is understood that Panglima Aduka is a silat exponent who has his own martial arts studio.
Previously, the man was reported to have posted on his Facebook, saying that one should not be overly sensitive and that wearing the socks bearing the word "Allah" means that one will be protected from head to toe.
He also questioned the necessity of a public apology issued by the convenience store which was selling the socks.
Meanwhile, Brickfields police chief Assistant Commissioner Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said they received two police reports from Abdullah Nazirulakram, who uses the name Tok Panglima Aduka, on March 18.
"The first report is a covering report lodged by Abdullah Nazirulakram who wished to look for the man.
"Abdullah Nazirulakram also lodged another police report saying that he has met the man and an apology has been issued by him voluntarily," he told the New Straits Times.
When asked about Abdullah Nazirulakram's actions, Ku Mashariman explained that there was no problem because he was acting on his own behalf, expressing his dissatisfaction with the man's earlier post.
He added that the man who posted the insensitive comment also had not lodged any report of himself being roughen up.
