PARIS: The "Malaysian Borneo Unveiled: Harmony of Cultures, Nature, and Adventure" exhibition held from March 25 to 27 at Secur Hall in Paris captivated audiences with its transformative display of Sarawak and Malaysia's diverse culture, stunning landscapes, and adventurous spirit, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.
Organised by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) in collaboration with the Permanent Delegation of Malaysia to Unesco in Paris, the National Heritage Department, and the Sarawak Museum Department, the exhibition aimed to engage delegates through interactive displays and discussions, highlighting the harmonious blend of various cultures and the natural treasures of the region.
The main goal of the exhibition was to foster awareness and appreciation of the cultural heritage, landscapes, and biodiversity of the region, promoting sustainable tourism practices and community involvement in conservation efforts.
The opening reception on March 26, attended by 100 participants, featured Sarawak Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh as the guest of honour.
The exhibition showcased the vibrant mix of native tribes and influences from Malay, Chinese, Indian, and other indigenous cultures of Sarawak. It also highlighted natural wonders, including Sarawak and Malaysia's breathtaking landscapes, rainforests, beaches, and iconic landmarks, emphasising eco-tourism, wildlife conservation, and the unique biodiversity of Borneo.
Adventure landscapes were presented, offering experiences of exploring Sarawak's national parks, jungle trekking, river safaris, diving, and caving adventures. In line with Unesco's mandate, the exhibition celebrated diverse cultural heritage and promoted sustainable development through conservation efforts, contributing to Unesco's mission of promoting peace and mutual respect.
