GEORGE TOWN: Tourism Malaysia, in collaboration with Malaysia Aviation Group and Bank Rakyat, launched its latest tourism package — "Fly Borneo Specials Vol. 2 – More Adventure Awaits You!" as part of its vigorous efforts in promoting interstate travel to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
The Fly Borneo Specials Vol. 2 features an impressive collection of 113 thematic packages curated by 61 tour operators from Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan.
These packages cater to a variety of interests, offering an enticing blend of stunning natural landscapes, diverse flora and fauna, adventure activities, rich cultural experiences and gastronomy.
All packages are bundled with airfare and ground tours at incredibly affordable prices.
To make Borneo travel even more accessible, Malaysia Aviation Group offers a 40 per cent discount on airfare through Firefly and MASwings.
Additionally, Bank Rakyat provides an interest-free payment scheme for package purchases using its credit card and terminal, allowing travellers to enjoy their seamless dream Borneo vacations.
The launch ceremony was
officiated by Tourism Malaysia deputy chairman Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin yesterday.
Present were Sarawak Tourism Board director for domestic and Asean Barbara Benjamin Atan; Tourism, Perbadanan Labuan Culture and Arts Department director Mahathir Abdul Hamid; and Sabah Tourism Board marketing manager Zarinah Amiludin.
A dedicated Business-to-business session was held in conjunction with the launch, bringing together 28 key tourism industry players from Borneo and the northern region.
This platform fostered valuable networking opportunities and showcased the latest products and attractions in Borneo.
Yeoh said they were targeting RM600,000 in businesses under the Fly Borneo Specials Vol. 2, from July until December this year.
"We are not only looking at the connection between Penang and Borneo but also the northern region of Peninsula Malaysia, as well assouthern Thailand.
"We believe there is much potential left untapped in Borneo. After this, we will also connect the other states with Borneo," he said.
Barbara said the Sarawak Tourism Board was looking to promote the northern part of the state through numerous attractive packages.
"We are expecting two million domestic tourists in Sarawak this year and hope to bring in the numbers through the Fly Borneo Specials Vol. 2, among others," she added.
Zarinah said the Sabah Tourism Board was looking to promote
community-related tourism packages and hiking of the second highest peak.
"All these are new offerings. We hope that this will attract the people in the northern region of Peninsula Malaysia to visit Sabah.
"Of the total three million tourists we are targeting, we expect about 1.6 million of them to be domestic tourists," she said.
Mahathir said Labuan has the potential to be an interesting tourism product and hoped it would attract local tourists.
"For this year, we are expecting to draw between 600,000 and one million tourists," he said.
