Two million vehicles expected on major highways during Raya holidays, says PLUS

KUALA LUMPUR: Over two million vehicles are expected to be on major highways during the Hari Raya holidays.

The Works Ministry said the projected increase in vehicle traffic would be high on peak days, specifically on April 5, 6, 9, 12, 13 and 14.

It said the projected traffic figure represents a 15 per cent increase compared with the usual 1.82 million daily traffic volume.

"In preparation for this festive season, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) has deployed more than 4,500 personnel across its highway network.

"As part of preparations, PLUS has assigned 70 staff members to the PLUS Traffic Monitoring Centre per day during peak hours to monitor, collect and disseminate current traffic information and coordinate assistance to all highway users," it said in a statement today.

The ministry said the public should play their part in ensuring smooth travel.

This involves planning journeys through the MyPLUS-TTA digital travel schedule available on the PLUS application or the MYJalan KKR application from April 4 to April 15.

"By downloading the MyPLUS-TTA application, users are encouraged to plan their trips by adhering to the suggested travel time advisory schedule by selecting travel times based on entry and exit toll plazas and choosing suitable travel times.

"Users are reminded to ensure sufficient balance in their Touch 'n Go cards or eWallets and that the scanner device's battery is in good condition before embarking on their journey. They should use the same payment mode when entering and exiting toll plazas," it said.

The ministry added that the public can stay updated on current traffic developments through the X @plustrafik application, the PLUS application, Putri Chatbot, electronic signs along the highway and major national radio stations.
