KUALA LUMPUR: The Economy Ministry will present a revised targeted subsidy plan to the cabinet sometime this month.
"Any announcements regarding this matter will be made by the government in due course," said its minister, Rafizi Ramli, in a statement.
A total of 17.65 million (58.7 per cent) of Malaysians had successfully updated their details in the Central Database Hub (Padu), he added.
Of this number, 11.55 million (52.6 per cent) were citizens above 18 years old.
"Regarding citizens who were unable to register and update their profiles in Padu, the existing administrative data is sufficient, and will be used by the government to determine their eligibility for targeted subsidies.
"If necessary, the Economy Ministry will announce the reopening of Padu for a brief period for registration and updates, once the government decides on the form and mechanism of targeted subsidies," he said.
The registration and updating of the Padu system ended at midnight last night.
