KUALA LUMPUR: The decree of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, is clear, and all parties need to stop the controversy over the "Allah" socks issue, says Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
"For those who are Muslim and Malay, the Agong's position is very high level, at the top, for me to disobey the order and deliberately interpret (His Majesty's order) in another way is not appropriate for me," he said as quoted by Bernama today.
Fahmi said this when asked about the actions of Umno Youth chief Muhamad Akmal Saleh, who continues to campaign for a boycott of KK Mart following the controversy over the socks issue.
This is despite the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's decree that no one should take advantage of the socks issue, including inciting the people.
Yesterday in a news report, Akmal said, "Did the Agong prohibit boycotting?" when asked if he would comply with the decree of His Majesty and the leadership of Umno headquarters for all parties to stop playing the issue.
Earlier, Sultan Ibrahim granted an audience to the founder and executive chairman of the KK Supermart Group, Datuk Seri Dr Chai Kee Kan.
Sultan Ibrahim reminded that no one should take advantage, including inciting the people.
While emphasising that all parties, including KK Mart, should be more cautious, His Majesty also reminded them to be more responsible.
