MACHANG: An ustaz of a religious school here was arrested for allegedly sodomising three of his students two years ago.
District police chief, Superintendent Ahmad Shafiki Hussin, said the 39-year-old suspect was arrested soon after police received reports on April 15.
He added the reports were lodged by the three victims, aged between 12 and 13, at the district station about midnight.
"In the reports, the victims claimed that they were forced to commit the act by the teacher.
"The incident happened at the school separately in 2022," he said in a statement today.
Shafiki said the suspect has been remanded to assist police investigation into the case.
He said police investigated the case for sodomy under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which allows for a prison term of up to 20 years, and caning.
