KOTA BARU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim tonight announced a RM20 million allocation to solve the water supply issue, following the hot weather.
Speaking at the Madani Hari Raya open house, Anwar said the allocation was to solve the problems faced by the people in Kelantan as well as the farmers.
"I was informed that the on-going hot weather has caused Kelantan river to dry up and many are suffered because of this.
"Therefore, l have ordered to speed up the project using the allocation, including to buy water pipes," he added.
Anwar said he was informed Kelantan currently has more than 1,000 hardcore people in the state.
Therefore, he has ordered the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) and the relevant machineries in Kelantan to tackle the issue soon.
"I have given them two months to solve the issue and put a stop to poverty in Kelantan.
"I want no more hardcore people to exist in Kelantan. The ICU director-general as well as the state government officers have promised to act on this.
"The government does not want Kelantan to be left behind," he said in his speech at Madani Hari Raya open house in Tunjong tonight.
Anwar also emphasised his commitment to ensuring the government's target of reducing poverty in the country is achieved.
