RM20 million budget allocation set to be game changer for esports industry

KUALA LUMPUR: A substantial portion of the RM20 million allocated to esports under the national budget for next year will be spent on the construction of a dedicated esports stadium.

News of the new stadium - announced on Friday - has excited Malaysian gamers, industry stakeholders and fans alike.

Impact Integrated deputy chief executive officer Nurul Azwa Mohd Rodzi highlighted the plans they have in mind.

"The long-awaited eSports stadium will be a cornerstone of our growth, featuring state-of-the-art production rooms and training camp facilities," said Azwa, revealing plans to break ground as early as next year.

The location for the new esports stadium has yet to be determined.

The allocation received will also be used to nurture talent through Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes tailored for the eSports sector.

This initiative will open doors to various careers, including hosting, coaching, and event management.
