KUALA LUMPUR: An uprooted tree on Jalan Sultan Ismail smashed into the KL Monorail track and damaged several cars causing major traffic congestion.
Strong winds and heavy rain at noon following a thunderstorm in Kuala Lumpur caused the tree to fall.
The incident was captured on video opposite the Concorde Hotel.
Several cars can be seen trapped under the fallen tree with drivers seen exiting their vehicles.
It has since gone viral.
So far, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department has deployed several vehicles and personnel to the scene of the incident.
Based on several viral videos, the tree crushed nearly 10 vehicles, causing severe damage. At the time of the incident, the vehicles affected were travelling from Kampung Baru towards Bukit Bintang.
The incident also caused a monorail passing through the track above the affected road to be disrupted.
