SHAH ALAM: Harimau Malaya and Selangor FC (SFC) player Faisal Halim is showing signs of recovery as he is now able to eat on his own and is in high spirits.
The matter was confirmed by SFC director, Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, after accompanying SFC chairman, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who visited Faisal at a private hospital here this morning.
Shahril, who is also the deputy president of the Selangor Football Association (FAS), said the player was enthusiastic and had started thinking about football despite battling with pain.
"I was informed that Faisal is now able to eat, but he has to stick to a soft diet. He also seems eager to do light exercises.
"This is very encouraging, but it should be noted that this is only the second surgery, and I understand there will be third and fourth surgeries.
"Everything (treatment) is done in stages, but the progress is very positive," said Shahril when met at the hospital grounds.
Shahril said the next surgery would take place later this week.
"The medical procedures will be done in stages. God willing, everything will improve. Faisal will still be in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
"No visitors are allowed, and Tengku Amir Shah, who visited Faisal earlier, only saw him from afar because of the risk of infection.
"Tengku Amir Shah provided words of encouragement, and Faisal heard what was conveyed, including words of encouragement from all Malaysians," he said.
