Anwar attends Malam Langkahan Wira celebrating Malaysian poetry

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today attended the prestigious Malam Langkahan Wira event, hosted by Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and the Malaysian Poetry Association (Penyair).

The evening, segmented into Malaysia Sebelum Merdeka, Malaysia Selepas Merdeka, and Deklamasi Puisi Tamu, drew an audience of 400 guests. Also present was DBP director-general Dr Hazami Jahari.

The event featured notable poets reciting works from renowned literary figures. In the first segment, Razali Mohd Yussof recited Pak Utih, a work by the late Usman Awang, followed by Buck Lee (Pada Tanah Yang Indah by A Samad Said), Rasdi Daud (Malaya Pasti Merdeka by Afrini Adham), Aya Rohaiyah and Nazeem (Dialog by Kassim Ahmad) and Zazmie Zain (Alam Tanah Air by Usman Awang).

The second segment saw Hariz Saufi Zamri reading Pada Setiap Kali Kau Tiba Ogos by Kemala, Shukri Abdullah (Konserto Kemerdekaan), Intan Marhayu (Sajak Untuk Penakut by Muhammad Salleh), Lin Haslinaz (Apa Ditakut Pada Malam by A Ghafar Ibrahim), Aris Othman (Topeng-topeng by Baha Zain), Datuk Rahman Shaari (Langkahan Wira) and Ahmad Ramli (Aku Hanya Mahu Ke Seberang by Hashim Yaacob).

The third segment included recitations by DBP's Board of Directors chairman Datuk Dr. Anwar Ridhwan, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
