KUALA LUMPUR: After 78 years since its establishment, Umno remains a strong and successful party that contributes to the prosperity of Malaysians, said the party's women chief Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad.
Noraini, who is also Deputy Women, Family and Community Development minister, said the solid support from the grassroots plays a role in the party's interests, strengthening unity, and its efforts to defend the people.
She added that loyalty to the party is also among the main factors determining the strength of the party.
"I hope all Umno grassroots members pray and ask for the continued strength of this party, that we all remain faithful and provide prosperity to everyone.
"InsyaAllah (God willing), I also pray for Umno members to pray for victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election," she said to Umno Online.
She also expressed her appreciation to Umno's leadership and grassroots who have always supported the party, which celebrates its 78th anniversary today, coinciding with the voting day of the by-election in Kuala Kubu Baharu.
She added that the celebration of Umno's 78th anniversary would be held simultaneously nationwide, through the party's state liaison bodies.
"I wish everyone a happy 78th anniversary and coincidentally, it is also the voting day in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election," she said. Umno's anniversary, celebrated on May 11 every year , is a manifestation of the party members showing that the spirit of the party's struggle has never faded as it enters its golden age. The celebration also serves as a platform to strengthen unity and solidarity among Umno supporters.
