Zahid: Anniversary marks a time for reflection; pray for Umno to come back stronger

KUALA LUMPUR: Ahead of Umno's 78th anniversary celebration, president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the event marks a prime opportunity for reflection and realignment of the party's struggle for religion, race, and nation.

Zahid, in a post on X, said Umno has navigated through various eras and leadership transitions, facing myriad challenges and tests on the national political stage over the last seven decades.

This party, he said, has played a crucial role in Malaysia's history since its inception, shaping the nation's trajectory from its earliest days to the present.

"The contributions and struggles of past Umno leaders and members have led to improved lives for its members and the nation as a whole.

"Approaching nearly eight decades of existence, Umno has undoubtedly traversed through multiple phases to ensure its continuity," he said.

Zahid also wished for party members and supporters to pray for Umno's success in the coming years.

"Let us pray for Umno to regain its strength as a party to continue bringing hope to the people.

"May Allah SWT always grant us guidance and wisdom as we navigate the trials of political struggle in this world," he added.

Umno is set to hold a solat hajat and doa selamat tomorrow in conjunction with its 78th anniversary.

The gathering will be held at Dewan Tun Hussein Onn at the Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre at 7pm.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in a Facebook posting, invited all to attend the event.
