SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Water Management Board (Luas) has taken proactive measures by adding six bags of activated carbon to help with the odour removal process following an oil spill in Kota Seriemas, Negri Sembilan, which flowed into Sungai Labu in Sepang yesterday.

In a Facebook post, Luas said that the team was still monitoring the situation in Sungai Labu, following the discovery of oil traces near the intake of the Water Treatment Plant (LRA).

As of 11.30pm yesterday, the team recorded no new oil readings at the location.

"Proactive measures have also been taken by adding six bags of activated carbon (AC) at the relevant drain site in the Negri Sembilan area to help improve odour removal.

"The Luas team continues to monitor the situation closely on the ground," read the post.

Yesterday, it was reported that the incident originated with an oil spill on the road at Kota Seriemas, Negri Sembilan, which then flowed into the affected river.

Subsequently, oil traces were found near the intake of the Sungai Labu Water Treatment Plant (LRA), triggering a Yellow Code according to the Emergency Manual for Water Source Pollution, which was activated at 7.45am.
