TEMERLOH: Two soldiers suffered several cuts and bruises after a misunderstanding turned into a no-holds-barred fight at the Batu 3 army camp in Mentakab near here, on May 9.
The two, aged 36 and 38, both with the rank of sergeant, were treated at the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital here.
Pahang police chief, Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman, said investigations revealed that the 36-year-old was performing his prayers inside a room in the camp about 9pm, when the other sergeant kept revving his motorcycle engine.
"He then told off the 38-year-old sergeant, and that triggered the fight between them.
"The first soldier allegedly used a piece of wood to attack his colleague, while the other was armed with a parang.
"Both men sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment. The first soldier required several stitches and was hospitalised."
Yahaya said police have recorded statements from both men and the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, for causing grievous injury.
