Fahmi extends condolences to families of policemen in Ulu Tiram shooting

KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his condolences to the families of the two policemen who died in the Ulu Tiram police station attack this morning.

In a statement on X, Fahmi said: "On behalf of the ministry and the people of Lembah Pantai, I offer my condolences to the family members of the late Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar and the late Constable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said who died while on duty in the attack incident on Ulu Tiram Police Station, Johor, early this morning.

"May Allah forgive all their sins and place them among the pious."

The two policemen were killed, and another injured, after a masked intruder stormed the Ulu Tiram police station here today.

Johor police chief Commissioner M. Kumar confirmed the attack on the Ulu Tiram police station, at 3am today.

The attacker was shot dead at the scene.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Hussain said the suspect who stormed a police station in Ulu Tiram, killing two policemen and injuring another, is believed to have links to Jemaah Islamiyah (JI).

He said five members of the suspect's family have been arrested and JI material was found at the suspect's home.

Meanwhile, Fahmi reminded the public not to make any speculations about the incident.

"Any official statements must be made by the @PDRMsia (police)," he added.
