Ulu Tiram shooting: 'I lost my only brother and sparring buddy'

TANJUNG MALIM: Lance Corporal Ahmad Azza Fitri Azhar expressed his deep sense of loss after his only brother, Constable Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, was killed in the Ulu Tiram police station attack yesterday.

Ahmad Azza Fitri, 24, said they were the only sons out of eight siblings.

"I lost my brother and sparring buddy.

"I am the third child and Ami (Ahmad Azza Fahmi's nickname) was the fourth.

"Since childhood, we slept in the same room. We never had separate rooms, it was always like this," he said at the family's home in Kampung Poh Tambahan, near Bidor, here, today.

Ahmad Azza Fitri said he received news about his brother's death from his second sister, Nur Azza Asyariena Azhar, 27, yesterday morning while he was on duty at the Pulau Gaya police station in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

"I was speechless when I heard his station was attacked. At that moment, I could only think about getting home quickly."

He said the last time he spoke to his brother was on Tuesday when they wished their father, Azhar Khaiden, 54, a happy Teachers Day during a group video call on WhatsApp.

"Ami and I have not celebrated Aidilfitri together for four years due to work. I will miss celebrating Aidilfitri with Ami."

Ahmad Azza Fitri said his family would leave it to the police to investigate the attack to ensure justice for his brother.

Ahmad Azza Fahmi is set to be buried at the Kampung Poh Muslim cemetery here this evening.

The 2.45am attack by a masked man at the Ulu Tiram police station yesterday killed Ahmad Azza Fahmi and Constable Muhamad Syafiq Ahmad Said and injured Corporal Mohd Hasif Roslan, who is in stable condition at Sultan Ismail Hospital in Johor Baru.
