PADANG TERAP: The search for a man feared to have drowned in the Pedu Lake here continues on the third day after the victim was reported missing.

Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Zone 1 chief Ahmad Aminudin Abd Rahim said the operation which began at 8am today is focused on the area where the victim was reported to have fallen, according to witnesses on Thursday.

He said the search involves personnel from the K-9 detection unit, the Water Rescue Team Unit (PPDA) from Jitra and Sungai Petani Fire and Rescue Stations, as well as members from the Kuala Nerang Fire and Rescue Station.

"In addition, the police and the Padang Terap Civil Defence Force (APM) are also involved in today's search and rescue (SAR) operation.

"Forestry Department personnel conducted aerial surveillance using drones this morning to monitor from above and to plot the search area," he said when contacted today.

Aminudin said that so far, only the victim's belongings have been found at the search location yesterday.

Yesterday, it was reported that a 41-year-old man has been missing since the boat he was in with his friend capsized while fishing at Pedu Lake on Thursday.

However, his 55-year-old friend was rescued by the public who noticed the incident before the Fire and Rescue Department arrived.
