More than 300 non-Muslim houses of worship received govt aid, says deputy minister

KUALA LUMPUR: The government channelled funds to more than 300 non-Muslim houses of worship last year to upgrade their facilities, said the deputy communications minister.

The funds were given through the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

"The Madani government supports diversity, and therefore we have also allocated funds for non-Islamic houses of worship.

"Last year, more than 300 non-Islamic houses of worship benefited from the RM50 million allocation," said Teo Nie Ching.

Other houses of worship may still apply for funding.

"Applications can be made until June 30. I urge those who need funds to improve their houses of worship to submit an online application to the Housing and Local Government Ministry.

"This demonstrates the Madani government's commitment to support all religions in our country," she said.

Earlier, Teo attended the Wesak Day celebration at Wisma Buddha here.
