KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim commended the governments of Ireland, Norway, and Spain for their decision to recognise the state of Palestine.
In a Facebook post, Anwar congratulated the countries for being "on the right side of history, humanity, and justice."
Anwar said the recognition is an acknowledgment of the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, sovereignty, and dignity.
"This milestone moves us closer to achieving a just peace in the Middle East," he said.
The prime minister also called on other nations to follow the lead of Ireland, Norway, and Spain, emphasising that global awareness and support for the Palestinian cause are growing.
"For all other governments who have not done so, know this: the world is waking up to the Palestinian cause, and their pursuit of justice will not be denied."
The announcement by the prime ministers of Ireland, Norway, and Spain on Thursday marked a significant step in international diplomacy concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The move has been seen as a strong gesture of support for Palestinian statehood amid ongoing tensions in the region.
