SHAH ALAM: Selangor police have temporarily suspended approvals for concerts after four attendees died and three were hospitalised.
This follows an incident during the Pinkfish Countdown 2024 held on New Year's Eve at Sunway Lagoon, where police received six reports from hospitals regarding individuals who fell unconscious at the event.
It is believed that the seven individuals involved had taken the party drug 'ecstasy'.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said future permits would only be approved if organisers could ensure strict control over drug distribution and implement robust safety measures.
"For now, the police are withholding approvals for such concerts until we are assured that organisers can address the issues I mentioned, particularly drug distribution," he said during a press conference today.
