The best SPM result since 2013

PUTRAJAYA: Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 result has shown an overall improvement and marked the best result since 2013.

Education director-general Azman Adnan said the SPM certificate requirements starting from 2013 stipulate that candidates must pass two subjects, namely Bahasa Melayu and History to get their SPM certificate.

"In 2023, the percentage of candidates eligible to receive their SPM certificate increased to 93.5 per cent compared to 91.6 per cent in 2022.

"The increase is by 1.9 per cent and represents the best achievement since 2013 based on the SPM certification requirements set," he said at the press conference for the SPM 2023 result analysis, here today.

Azman also said that this year, a better National Average Grade (GPN) score of 4.60 was recorded compared to 4.64 last year.

He explained that a lower GPN value indicates a better candidate's performance.

He said A total of 11,713 candidates achieved excellent results, namely Grades A+, A, and A- in all subjects in 2023, compared to 10,109 candidates in 2022, marking an increase.

Candidates of SPM 2023 can obtain their exam results from their respective schools from 10am today.

Additionally, all candidates, including private candidates, can check their results online at myresultspm.moe.my or through SMS by typing SPMNoKPAngkaGiliran and sending it to 15888.

The system will be activated from 10am today until 6pm on June 2.
