SUNGAI BULOH: The final report on the tragic crash involving two Royal Malaysian Navy helicopters, which claimed the lives of 10 officers and personnel in Lumut, Perak, is expected to be released by next week at the latest.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that his team was currently finalising the comprehensive report on the accident.
"We will release it soon, possibly by next week at the latest. We are finalising the complete report," he said after attending the Malaysian Skills Diploma and Certificate of the Corporation for the Affairs of Ex-Armed Forces Personnel (Perhebat) Award ceremony at the Perhebat Complex in Sungai Buloh Camp here.
On May 9, the Navy, in its preliminary report into the crash on April 23, revealed that the two helicopters were airworthy.
The Navy also said the crew members involved were also fit to fly.
Two helicopters, an AgustaWestland AW139 HOM and a Eurocopter Fennec, had collided during a mid-air manoeuvre during a flypast training for the Navy's 90th-anniversary celebrations.
There were no survivors in the tragedy.
