PUTRAJAYA: A total of one million fleet cards are available for companies engaged in the transportation of goods via the Subsidised Diesel Control System 2.0 (SKDS 2.0).
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said that this initiative was among the measures implemented by five major oil companies involved in the system's rollout.
He said the target was to meet the demand for 23 types of vehicles eligible under SKDS 2.0, benefitting approximately 410,000 vehicles.
"Today, we received a commitment from the oil companies; they have provided a stock of one million fleet cards. This means that oil companies will always have a supply as soon as applications are made," he said.
Armizan also said that the mechanism for diesel price adjustments after the implementation of targeted subsidies would be determined by the Finance Ministry.
He said that the determination of fuel prices, whether floated or using another mechanism, would be announced at the appropriate time.
"This matter will be announced by the Ministry of Finance when the time comes, as our responsibility at the Domestic Ministry is to regulate the Diesel Control System (SKDS).
"The Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) has already informed us that this targeting will be implemented. There will no longer be blanket subsidies; instead, they will be given in a targeted manner. As for the price and timing, it will be announced by the Finance Minister," he said at a press conference after attending the SKDS 2.0 Open Day here today.
