KUALA LUMPUR: Chinese national Fan Yuhu, 54, and his Malaysian wife, Chee Chin Yi, 34, is 255 days into their journey around the world in their electric SUV, aiming to travel to 100 countries in 800 days to set a new standard for eco-friendly exploration.
They have just returned from a trip to Borneo.
Chee said they hoped the journey would set a Guinness World Record.
Fan is already a Guinness World Record holder following his successful solo journey around the world, covering six continents and 82 countries.
"We have embarked on this challenge for eight months. We have travelled to Laos, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Sabah, Sarawak, Brunei and Malaysia.
"Today marks our 255th day of travelling," said Chee said today.
Fan said the challenge aimed to promote an eco-friendly lifestyle.
"Some of my family members died of lung cancer and I want to break the cycle.
"This is a lifestyle that can keep people away from air pollution or diseases."
Asked how they charge their electric SUV, they said they do it at hotels, restaurants and McDonald's, which provides three-pin plug sockets for their charger gun.
The couple said their next destination would be Singapore, then the United States.
