ROMPIN: A video call with his wife was the last conversation of Saifullizan Abu, 53, husband of the late Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, who died in an accident on Jalan Kuantan-Segamat near the Bahau three-way junction here, early this morning.
Saifullizan said through a video call around midnight, his late wife, who was a teacher at SK Jeram, Melaka, said she was traveling and wanted to sleep.
"Things were really unexpected, the deceased was happy as usual. She was a senior assistant at the school so she was often involved in various programmes," he said when met at the scene of the incident.
Saifullizan, who is also a teacher, said he got the sad news from his son around 3am before rushing to the scene of the incident to see the real situation.
In the meantime, he said his youngest son Farouq, 12, who was also on the bus suffered injuries to his face and was being treated at the Muadzam Shah Hospital, here.
The father of the five children said that after the post-mortem is completed, the remains will be brought back to Kampung Ramuan China Besar, Masjid Tanah, Melaka for burial.
The third child of the victim, Nur Mujahadah, 22, said the last time she saw her mother was when she was sending the deceased to school to leave for Terengganu and her mother advised her to drive carefully on the way home.
Meanwhile, a bank executive met at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA), Muhammad Saiful Azam Yusof, 26, is grateful that his wife Nurul Atiqah Jaafar Sedek, 31, survived the accident that claimed three lives.
"After the accident, my wife immediately contacted me and informed me that she was involved. I asked her how she was, she said she was fine but couldn't get up so I rushed to Muadzam Shah Hospital with my father and child," he said.
Muhammad Saiful said he was able to meet his wife who suffered a head injury at Muadzam Shah Hospital, before the victim was taken to HTAA, Kuantan for further treatment.
The road accident killed three people so far including Hasnatul Adilah, the second driver of the bus Hadi Asyraf Mad Idris, 29, and Hamzah Ahmad, 60.
In the incident, a bus carrying 39 passengers and two drivers crashed into the slope of the road after losing control and hitting a trailer carrying a load of iron rod rolls.
The bus was reported to be on its way to bring teachers from SK Jeram in Masjid Tanah, Melaka with their children to Terengganu to attend a benchmarking programme. – Bernama
